HV Training Entry Path C
For Electrical Specialists

Already a qualified electrician, electronics technician or electrical engineer – but without an automotive background? Entry Path C is designed for you. Your electrotechnical knowledge is fully recognised: only the vehicle-specific HV content needs to be added, keeping the training scope lean and targeted.

Who qualifies for Entry Path C?

Entry Path C applies to professionals with a completed electrical qualification who have not worked in the automotive trade. Their electrotechnical foundations are recognised; only automotive-HV-specific content needs to be added.

Profiles qualifying for Entry Path C

  • Elektroniker (electronics technician) in any specialisation
  • Elektriker (electrician, older German trade qualification)
  • Elektroingenieur / Electrical engineer (Bachelor, Master, Diplom)
  • Elektroenergietechniker (energy systems engineer)
  • Mechatroniker with a clear electrical focus but no Kfz qualification
  • Industrial electricians from manufacturing or plant maintenance

Not Entry Path C if …

  • no electrical or automotive qualification → check Entry Path A
  • automotive qualification with electrical content → check Entry Path B
  • Kfz-Mechatroniker from July 2013 → may already hold Level 2S

How does the qualification work?

As a qualified electrical professional you already have the theoretical foundations – the course focuses on what is missing: vehicle-specific HV knowledge and mandatory practical instruction on the vehicle.

1

Inquiry & Individual Needs Assessment

Entry Path C is individually tailored. We assess the exact training scope based on your qualification and professional experience. Please have training certificates and a brief description of your current role available. A binding quote is issued within 24 hours.

2

Theory – Vehicle-Specific HV Content

Since electrotechnical fundamentals are fully established, the course concentrates on vehicle-specific HV topics: HV traction battery systems, power electronics, charging infrastructure, the 5 HV safety rules, PPE for HV work, and hazard assessment for workshops and development environments per DGUV 209-093.

3

Practical Training – ≥ 8 UE (Level 2S) or ≥ 16 UE (Level 2E)

Mandatory practical instruction directly on HV vehicles: de-energisation per the 5 safety rules, measurement and documentation of voltage-free state, securing against re-energisation, and re-commissioning. For Level 2E the extended practical scope also covers measurements on active development vehicles.

4

Final Exam & Certificate

Upon passing the final examination, participants receive a personalised certificate per DGUV Information 209-093 – valid for 3 years. Complete training documentation including proof of practical instruction is provided.

Frequently asked questions about Entry Path C

Entry Path C applies to electrical specialists without an automotive background: electricians (Elektroniker, Elektriker), electrical engineers, energy system engineers, mechatronics technicians with an electrical focus but no Kfz qualification.
For Level 2S, the training scope is determined individually based on existing electrical knowledge – there is no fixed minimum number of units. At least 8 practical teaching units on the vehicle are mandatory. For Level 2E, a minimum of 24 teaching units is required, of which at least 16 must be practical.
DGUV 209-093 recognises that electrical specialists already have solid electrotechnical foundations. The automotive HV-specific content needed varies depending on the individual's existing knowledge. A competent instructor determines the required scope – this is compliant with the standard and legally valid.
The training is conducted in German. The certification and documentation are issued per DGUV Information 209-093 in German. Please contact us to discuss requirements for international teams.
