Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ – HV Training Level 3E
What is the difference between Level 3S and Level 3E?
Level 3S authorises fault diagnosis under HV voltage on series vehicles after SoP – with fully documented, standardised HV systems (IMD, IPBS, defined shutdown paths). Level 3E applies to development vehicles, prototypes and test benches before SoP, where standardisation cannot be assumed and greater individual responsibility is required.
How much does the Level 3E training cost?
€1,099 per person plus VAT. Combined training packages (Level 2E + 3E in one block) or company quotes for larger teams are available on request. Individual pricing is possible for OEM development departments and Tier-1 suppliers.
What PPE is required for Level 3E activities?
Insulating gloves Class 1 per EN 60903 (up to 7,500 V), arc flash protective clothing per EN ISO 11612 (min. 12 cal/cm²), helmet with arc flash visor (arc protection class APC 2), VDE tools per EN 60900, and CAT III/IV measuring instruments. The employer is required to supply this PPE free of charge. We provide all PPE for the training exercises.
Do I need both Level 3S and Level 3E?
Only if you work under HV voltage on both series vehicles (workshop) and development vehicles (prototypes, test benches). If you work purely in development, Level 3E alone is sufficient. Many engineers transitioning from development to series production or working in quality assurance hold both qualifications.
How often must the Level 3E qualification be renewed?
Every 3 years and after more than 12 months without active HV work. As HV technology in the development sector evolves rapidly (solid-state batteries, 1,000 V systems, new cell chemistries), we recommend an annual refresher instruction for development engineers.
